We loved being a part of the Elegant Weddings Gala held at the Prestonwood Country Club. We will definitely be there next year. If you haven't had a chance to check out the posts about the event and all the great vendors, they are all still up. Just go back to the beginning of the blog in March to see them. Here is an article about the event as well.

Loved taking photos with Sarah and Mike at the Yates Mill Pond in Raleigh last week! Aren't they cute together! Sarah and Mike are creating a Jone's Book Engagement Guest Book for their wedding. The square images are their choices for the interior pages of the book. The book will have one page in full color and the page next to it will be the same image, but just transparent- so guests can sign the page. The books are gorgeous! They are hand made- so they take a little while to order- I need about 2 months in order to get them back in time.

They say that rain on your wedding day brings you good luck. If that's the case- Randi and Justin will have luck to spare! It rained 4 inches the night of their wedding reception in Wallace. It literally felt like 25 inches!! It poured and poured! You will see the bride, Randi, running from the limo in the slide show that follows- not an easy feat in a wedding dress, Here is a shot of our good friends with Life Stage Videography, Melissa and her assistant Chris trying to get all of their equipment in the building. What crazy weather!

Meet Baby Kai! What a perfect little cutie! You will get to see Kai quite often on my blog because I will be photographing him throughout his first year. I can't wait to see how he changes and grows- did I mention I love my job! I love photographing newborns in their nursery with Mom and Dad. It is a more intimate setting for photos that capture the relationship between a new baby and parents. At the end of Kai's first year, I will make a storybook album featuring photos from all of his portrait sessions. If you are expecting and are interested in our "Watch Me Grow" program, just contact me for more info!

Yesterday, I had to opportunity to photograph a once in a lifetime experience. The battleship is America's newest nuclear submarine. The new submarine will bear the name of North Carolina. The official ceremony- called 'the commissioning' will take place in Wilmington on Saturday. I was able to view the submarine coming up the Cape Fear River to be moored at the Wilmington Shipping Port.

The security was extremely high as you can see with the photos of soldiers with machine guns. There was a helicopter circling overhead and the Coast Guard was circling in the river with machine guns. There were also bomb sniffing dogs to inspect any vehicles that got close. I had to have a background check in order to be there as one of the media. The public is not allowed to get near the ship.

I was there with all of the newspapers, television stations and several reporters from magazines and other agencies from around the state.
It was very cool! I felt like- 'Bridget Jones- serious news reporter!'- ha ha. My photos will be on the WWAY website! www.wwaytv3.com

The Hoggard High School Band played for the audience and several officials including State Senator Mike McIntyre and Mayor Bill Saffo spoke at the ceremony. The mayor gave the Captain, Mark Davis, the key to the city.

Here are a few of my favorites from Jonay and David's engagement session. They timed it just right- all of the gorgeous blooming flowers are already gone after just two weeks! Spring is so beautiful in North Carolina- I wish it could stay this way all of the time. I am so excited for Jonay and David's wedding this fourth of July! What a perfect couple!
